Listening to What Your Body Is Trying to Tell You
Feb 17, 2020Shhhh…listen carefully…do you hear anything?
Is your body telling you that it needs your attention? Are you listening and taking action?
A lot of us tend to ignore the early warning signs of potential problems. Why?
Well, there can be many possible reasons, including perceived time constraints and fear of what the problem might be. Or, as in my case, not wanting to make the necessary changes.
Several years ago I was feeling exhausted and started having stomach issues. I suspected that I had food allergies but didn’t want to deal with it. Then the pain got so bad that I had to seek help. I was literally sick and tired.
As it turned out, I had an allergy to gluten. I also found out that I was dairy-sensitive, so that’s no longer in my diet either. I had to completely overhaul what I ate (and yes, I still miss cheese!).
The result? I feel much better these days and lost almost 25 pounds within 9 months of making these changes.
For a long time my body had been telling me that something was wrong. If I had listened to it earlier I could have saved myself years of discomfort and feeling lousy. I wasted a lot of time being sick.
So don’t be me! If you’re reading this and it resonates with you, and you know you’ve been ignoring the signs, I encourage you to go see your doctor. What may be a small problem now could be a bigger one the longer you wait.
While I work on the fitness side of health and wellness, it is very important to me that you care for yourself. It is part of being the best version of yourself. Please let me know if there is any way I can help you.
