The Support of Others Makes You Stronger

Jan 06, 2020

The last few weeks have been weird for me.

The gym had been closed for the holidays and some of the classes that I depend on so much were canceled. I got several days of workouts in when there were classes and a few sessions on my own. But it wasn’t what I usually do and certainly not done with the same intensity. And sometimes I just phoned it in. Yes, I’ll admit to that.

About 10 years ago, I was a solo exerciser and perfectly happy with that. Now I find myself craving the social interaction and motivation of the instructors and other class participants. These people have become my friends over time and they make me work hard. They push me to be better than I thought I could be. This is what I have missed over the past several weeks.

I encourage you to find people in your life who will keep you accountable and help you achieve your goals. Your health and fitness journey can have a lot of unexpected twists and turns, progress and setbacks. It can challenge you physically, mentally and emotionally. It is important to have people who will help you get through the tougher times and to celebrate your accomplishments with you.

I hope that if you’ve set goals for the new year, you’re having success. If you’re struggling a bit, don’t give up! Remember, it is small steps, consistency and support that will get you there. Be part of a group that supports you.

As for me, I’m looking forward to hitting the reset button this week with both my eating and exercise programs, and working towards the goals I’ve set. And I’m excited to be back with the people who have been so important in my transformation. Please let me know if there is anything I can do to help you with yours . 🦋
